Dejan Savicevic vs Barcelona - 1994
Take yourself way back to 1994 and you’ll find the audacious effort from Dejan Savicevic against Barcelona.
Savicevic’s lob gave Milan a 3-0 lead over Barcelona and the Catalan side were unable to mount a comeback on the night.
After winning the ball back out wide, Savicevic went for the unthinkable and spotted Zubizarreta off his line.
The game finished 4-0 in Milan’s favour with the other goals coming from Daniele Massaro and Marcel Desailly.
Steve McManaman vs Valencia - 2000
Gareth Bale isn’t the only British player to score a great Champions League final goal for Real Madrid.
Look no further than Steve McManaman’s effort back in 2000.
Roberto Carlos’ long throws were always a weapon for Real and that was the case in this match.
Carlos sent the ball into the box but Valencia managed cleared their lines, but the ball fell to McManaman on the edge of the box.
The midfielder leapt to the ball and found the back of the net with an impressive scissor kick, helping Madrid on their way to the trophy.
Zinedine Zidane vs Leverkusen - 2002
There’s a fine sense of irony that Zidane was the man to leave Bale on the bench, only for him to come on and score the goal he did.
Zidane knows a thing or two about scoring spectacular goals in the final. Back in 2002, he oozed class with an inch-perfect volley against Bayer Leverkusen.
He found the top corner, on the turn, all while making it look effortless. The goal is widely recognised as one of the best ever scored.
Hernan Crespo vs Liverpool - 2005
We all know how this evening ended, but Hernan Crespo scored Milan’s third goal with a touch of class.
Kaka played a defence-splitting pass through the Liverpool side, weighted perfectly for Crespo to run on to and cheekily dink the ball over the outrushing Jerzy Dudek without even breaking stride.
Vladimír Šmicer vs Milan - 2005
Steven Gerrard may get all the plaudits from that famous night against Milan but Vladimír Šmicer played a key role in getting the Reds back in the game.
His long-range driven effort beat Duda, who perhaps should have done better.
His goal made it 3-2 on the night and the rest was history for Liverpool.
David Villa vs Manchester United - 2011
Barcelona were at the peak of their powers when they met Manchester United at Wembley back in 2011.
David Villa scored the pick of the bunch with Barcelona’s third of the evening.
United were sitting deep, offering Barcelona little room to manoeuvre. Villa only needed two touches to find the top corner from the edge of the area.
Sergio Busquets laid the ball back to him, he took a touch and curled the ball past Edwin van der Sar.
Didier Drogba vs Bayern Munich - 2012
Chelsea looked dead and buried back in 2012, nobody had given them a chance.
They had gone behind through Thomas Muller’s awkward header, only for Didier Drogba to pull them back level in the final moments.
Drogba always came good for Chelsea at the biggest moments and this was one of those.
His movement at the near post was perfect and the power in the header left Manuel Neuer with no chance. Incredible technique to beat one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
Mario Mandzukic vs Real Madrid - 2017
Another goal that is widely considered as one of the best to grace a Champions League final.
Mario Mandzukic finished off a brilliant bit of play from Juventus when he sent an acrobatic effort past Keylor Navas from the corner of the penalty box.
Gonzalo Higuain did brilliantly to control the ball in the box and set it up for the Croatian forward, who used his tall figure to loop the ball over the goalkeeper.
